Our Story
Kentucky Star Wars Collecting Club
In the late 90s, the resurgence of the action figure market reignited Star Wars fans’ passion, sparking the creation of Star Wars – Kentucky Figure Collecting (SW-KFC) in 2000. With a lightsaber-wielding Colonel as our mascot and Yahoo!Groups as our hub, the group quickly grew into a community. Meetings held in Louisville were full of excitement, but attendance waned over time, and gatherings paused. However, the Yahoo!Groups kept the spark alive for the next three years.
On September 27, 2003, a pivotal meeting at a members home brought fresh energy and vision to the group. By October 18, the club rebranded as the Kentucky Star Wars Collectors Club (KSWCC), broadening its focus to all Star Wars collectibles to attract more fans. This new direction marked the start of a thriving community.
United as KSWCC, the group expanded with chapters in Louisville, Lexington, and Ashland, creating a regional network of collectors. Each year, members come together for a Fall Festival that even the Ewoks would envy, celebrating the shared passion that first brought them together.
“The force is strong with this one.”
